Kosola and Associates is pleased to offer the STC owned by Davis Aviation Services Inc. to replace your existing engine mount with a NEWLY DESIGNED HEAVY DUTY engine mount. If you are experiencing VIBRATION problems with your Cessna 180, the newly designed HEAVY DUTY engine mount may be the change your airplane needs.

This option is available for all Cessna model 180 aircraft equipped with a carbureted Teledyne Continental Motors engine (except the 0-470 A and J series). For example, the engine installation could even be the higher horsepower carbureted 520 and 550 engines. The "heavy duty" replacement mounts are similar in design to the Cessna 185 floatplane mount, with thicker tubes, as well as additional connecting tubes. This installation will help eliminate vibration problems, as well as strengthen the firewall with the extra tubing. The replacement mount provides additional support for the engine with larger vibration isolators installed in the two aft positions. This mount is hinged at the lower attach points, which allows easier access to the firewall. NOTE: It is the discretion of the installer to determine if this STC upgrade would interfere with other modifications installed on the aircraft.

INSTALLATION:

Standard removal and replacement for most models with minor firewall modification. Cabin heat vent on firewall must be moved and rotated 90 degrees to clear engine mount tubing. Any other items, such as external power plug, which interfere with clearance must be moved. The firewall cover plate is placed where the cabin heat vent was previously located.

Early model aircraft (s/n 30000 to 18051312) are included in the STC. Confirmation of your serial number would determine which items are applicable to your serial number. Some models may require exhaust replacement. Check your existing exhaust for proper "fit". Otherwise, replacement is required. Exhaust parts and Carburetor Heat Shroud Assembly items are not included with this package. There is also additional labor time involved to modify vent prior to rotation, as cabin heat and fresh air have separate vents.
