PIPER AIRCRAFT PA-46 SERIES ENGINE MOUNTS

TO PREVENT CRACKING OR FAILURE

Release Date: June 30, 2005

Albany, Georgia, USA

KOSOLA AND ASSOCIATES, INC., Albany, Georgia (USA) announces that STC SA02779AT has been issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the engine mount modification to prevent cracking or failure of the nose landing gear actuator attachment joint of the Piper PA-46 series engine mounts.  This amended STC pertains to the Piper PA-46-500TP engine mounts, P/N 102460 which is added to the approvals of the other PA-46 airplanes (PA-46-310P and PA-46-350P).  Inspecting your engine mount per Piper Service Bulletin No. 1103A and 1154 could result in you finding cracks in this attachment area.

Our STC redesigns and reinforces this attachment area so to help prevent future cracking or failure of this attachment joint.  Kosola has been receiving numerous inquires from operators concerning this cracking problem and the high cost and the long lead time in obtaining a new engine mount from Piper.

Send your engine mount for repair/modification to Kosola’s FAA approved repair station, the worlds largest engine mount/tubular steel component specialized repair station.  Turn around time is a few days and in some cases, we may have a modified engine mount in stock (on an exchanged basis) for “AOG” shipping.
